Short version: be decent in the comments, credit us if you quote us, and remember this is a fan site run by volunteers, not an official team outlet. The longer version follows.
01Accepting these terms
By visiting DC Sports, reading an article, leaving a comment, or sending us a message, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
These terms sit alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with the information you give us.
02What this site is
DC Sports is an independent, fan-run publication covering Washington, D.C. teams. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorised by any team, league, university, conference, or rights holder. Team names, logos, and marks belong to their owners and are used here for identification and commentary only.
Everything on the site is opinion, commentary, and reporting by fans. Nothing here is official team communication.
03Comments and conduct
Comments are the best part of a fan site and the fastest way to ruin one. Argue about the bullpen all you like; the following will get a comment removed and can get an account banned without warning:
- Harassment, threats, or personal attacks on other readers, writers, or players.
- Hate speech or slurs targeting anyone.
- Spam, scams, phishing, or relentless self-promotion.
- Posting someone's private information.
- Impersonating another person, a writer here, or a team official.
- Anything unlawful, or content you do not have the right to post.
Moderation is a judgement call made by volunteers, and we make it in whatever way keeps the conversation worth reading. We may remove, edit, or refuse any submission for any reason, and we are not obliged to explain why.
04Content you post
You keep ownership of what you write. By posting a comment, tip, photo, or submission, you confirm you have the right to share it, and you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, store, reproduce, and quote it on the site and its social accounts.
Comments are hosted by Disqus and are also subject to Disqus's own terms. Opinions in the comments belong to the people who wrote them, not to DC Sports.
05Our content
Articles, photos, and graphics produced for DC Sports belong to us or to their creators. You are welcome to quote a reasonable excerpt with clear credit and a link back to the original. Republishing whole articles, or scraping the site to feed another publication or a machine-learning dataset, is not permitted without written permission.
If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, tell us through the contact form with enough detail to identify the work and we will review it promptly.
06Links and syndicated headlines
Many headlines on the front page and team pages link to articles published on our team sites or on other publishers' websites. Those articles remain the property of whoever published them, and a link is not an endorsement. We have no control over other sites and take no responsibility for their content, accuracy, or availability.
07Scores, standings, and stats
Live scores, standings, and statistics are pulled from third-party feeds and are provided for convenience only. They can be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. Do not rely on anything here for wagering, fantasy decisions, or any other purpose where accuracy matters — check an official source.
08Donations
Donations are entirely voluntary and are not required to read anything on this site. They help cover hosting, travel, and the other costs of producing coverage.
- DC Sports is not a registered charity, and donations are not tax-deductible.
- A donation buys no goods, services, membership, or editorial influence — coverage is not for sale.
- Donations are generally non-refundable. If something went wrong with a payment, get in touch and we will try to sort it out.
- Payments are processed by Stripe, PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle under their own terms. We never handle your card or bank details.
Recurring donations set up through a payment provider can be cancelled at any time in that provider's app or dashboard. See the donate page for the available methods.
09Availability and changes
The site is run by volunteers and is offered as-is. We may change, move, or remove any part of it, and we do not promise uninterrupted service. Pages can go down, feeds can break, and archives can be reorganised.
10Disclaimer and liability
The site and everything on it are provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability.
To the fullest extent the law allows, DC Sports and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, from content posted by readers, or from any site we link to.
11Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site changes, and we will move the “last updated” date at the top when we do. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
