Brady House Is Ready. Is Washington?

Posted on by Ryan MacReynolds

Brady House is hitting .318 with 13 home runs in 71 games at Double-A Harrisburg. He's 21 years old. He was the 11th overall pick in 2021. And I am here to tell you that if the Washington Nationals do not at minimum have an active internal conversation about bringing this kid up by August, something has gone wrong.

I understand service time. I understand the value of an extra year of development. I also understand that at some point, keeping a player in the minors when they're clearly ready does more harm than good — to their development, to their confidence, and frankly to the relationship between the organization and the player.

The Numbers Don't Lie

House's strikeout rate has dropped four percentage points from last season. His walk rate has climbed. His hard-hit rate is elite for the level. These are not fluky numbers — this is a player who has made real adjustments and is now punishing minor-league pitching for it.

Give the kid his shot. The Nationals are playing meaningful games. There is no better development environment than that.
